The Context

Aspect was asked by its long-standing global energy client to provide event planning and management support for its internal International Women’s Day celebrations. The brief was to encourage participation from all corners of the globe by putting together an inspiring programme of content with input from internal stakeholders to raise awareness for gender equality issues. The event demonstrated an important signal of intent from the organisation towards their Gender Ambition and greater diversity, equity, inclusion for its workforce and customers.

Our Work

We collaborated with our client to develop a global ‘Global Takeover’ on International Women’s Day, an experience that ‘followed the sun’ across three separate events in different time-zones. Our remit was to manage the three shows from one central location while allowing for regional variations to be implemented on a local level.

We designed and developed an intimate, studio-based show with a live audience to be broadcast to the globally dispersed workforce.

The content was created in a ‘magazine’-style format to maintain interest and energy, comprising of short, varied segments across a wide range of topics and areas of interest.

Studio audience participation and contributions from subject matter experts combined with good-news stories and honest debate created a warm and safe atmosphere for all guests and viewers. Meaningful take-outs were handed over and shared between the three regional shows, resulting in a day of global celebration, awareness, and activism. The creation of highly sharable show highlights increased the lifecycle of the content beyond the event itself.

The outcome

Feedback from the client and the three audiences on the regional variations and focus on local issues, the range of stories overall and the diversity of the hosts and presenters was overwhelmingly positive. Viewing figures and engagement levels were higher than in previous years, reflecting the quality of both the content and the broadcast.

User-generated content from the event will be used to keep internal conversation going and ensure the themes of International Women’s Day remain topical throughout the year.
