The Context

After delivering a virtual awards show in 2020, our client was keen to host a live event for their 2021 Global Metals Awards but recognised the need to offer those guests unable to travel to London the opportunity to join in the evening’s celebrations.

After a difficult 18 months, it was time to bring the industry back together once again.

The Project

We devised a fully hybrid solution that included a glittering live awards show at a 5 star venue in London with an online event for global attendees.  It was essential that both audiences enjoyed the same quality experience of the event, so we created a bespoke awards platform for the virtual attendees to watch and join in the live celebrations remotely.


While the live show was in progress, a virtual host guided the remote attendees through the evening’s proceedings.  Highlight stings and interactive elements – such as the virtual networking lounge that was available to all attendees – kept both audiences equally involved in the show and allowed them to connect, share and celebrate with each other throughout the evening.



A sponsor area on the virtual platform gave information on each of the event’s valued sponsors, while a chat room encouraged all guests to share their reactions and comments live on the chat feed and provided real-time updates and notifications during the live show.

Live entertainment was especially designed to work for both audiences: A filmed edit of the opening live act was used as a curtain raiser for the virtual event two hours later, while Britain’s Got Talent winner Magician X wowed both audiences with an interactive performance that everyone could partake in.

The Outcome

By intelligently designing a hybrid event with equal consideration given to the experience of both audiences, and identifying ways in which they could interact, our client achieved its objective of bringing its valued customers back together again in one place to network, celebrate and share in each other’s successes, creating a feeling of goodwill towards the brand.
